GENERAL

What do you accept as ID?

We accept: Passports, Photo Driving Licences and Immigration Registration Cards

We do not accept: Birth Certificates, Medical Cards, Bank or Credit Cards

What do you accept as proof of address?

Utility Bills, Bank Statements, Council Tax Bills, and Phone Bills

Why do I need ID?

In order for us to fulfill our legal requirements and to ensure our financial security, a valid proof of identification is required for all our loans and other transactions.

For many of our services a proof of address is also required.

Are there ever any extra charges for transactions?

GA Pawnbrokers will always be completely transparent and clear about all charges and fees.

You will never have to pay any storage costs, transaction sur-charges or any other fees than are originally clearly stated in your contract.

Can someone else claim my item?

Unfortunately, for security reasons, only the person who signed the contract can reclaim their items.

You can specifically designated someone else at the time of the contact signing if you will not be able pick them up yourself.

How do you determine the value of an item?

The loan amount offered is equal to the value of your goods as determined by our trained pawnbrokers. This is based on the quality and condition of the item, aswell as its market value.

We will always give fair and accurate valuations on all items.

Complaints Procedure

If you have any complaint we ask you to bring it to the attention of the branch manager, if you are not satisfied with their response then please get incontact with our Head office at 7 Brighton Place, Brighton, BN1 1HJ.

PAWNBROKING

What is pawnbroking?

Pawnbroking is a way of getting a financial loan against the value of an item.

You deposit the item with us for up to 6 months and we will give you the agreed value of that item. If you wish to reclaim your item just return to the shop and repay the previously agreed amount.

If you choose that you don't want to reclaim your valuables, after the contract length is over we will put the item up for sale in our shops

What do I need to bring for a pawnbroking loan?

An item to be used as collateral, proof of identity (over 18s), proof of address and your signature are all required for a pawnbroking loan. No credit checks will be made

How much can I borrow?

Pawnbroking loans range from £5 to £50,000. Anything over £50'000 is classed as a different kind of contract.

If you are expecting to bring in an item worth over £5,000 please call ahead of your arrival so we can have the cash waiting for you. Representative 90% APR

How long can I have a pawnbroking loan for?

All pawnbroking loans have a contract length of 6 months.

At any time within that period (within our opening hours) you may pay back the agreed price to reclaim your items.

When can I get my valuables back?

You may reclaim your items at any time during the agreed contract length.

How do you calculate a pawned items reclaim value?

The standard interest rate for pawnbroking loans of £5000 or less is 7.5% of the loan value per month. This is equal to a representative 90% APR. For loans of

If you choose to reclaim within 30 days, we will only charge you interest for the amount of that month you have deposited your item for. e.g. If you pay a pawnbroking loan back within 3 days the interest would be 3/30 x 7.5%, which equals 0.75% of the items value.

Will my items be safe?

All your items will stored securely in our safes within our shops for the length of your contract.

Whilst your items are in our care they still belong to you, so we do everything we can to keep items safe and in the same condition in which they arrived. All pawned items are stored in secure bandit proof safes or vaults, which are reinforced both above and below, for your peace of mind.

BUY BACK

What is a buy back?

A buy back is a way of raising money by selling any item of value. The difference between a buy back and the normal sale of an item is that we will keep item for 28 days after you have deposited it with us.

If you wish to reclaim your valuables within the 28 days, ywhich will be agreed with you at the time of the sale, and get your item back.

How long do I have to buy my item back?

You have 28 days to buy your item back. After this your item will be put up for sale in our shops.

How do you calcuate the buy back amount of an item?

The amount you can sell an item for is decided by taking into account its value, condition and its marketability. The buy back amount is determined as a percentage of the items value and is calculated on a case by case basis.

CHEQUE CASHING

How quickly can I get my money?

Most cheques can be cashed within 10 minutes. For larger amounts please call ahead so we can have your money ready.

How much does cashing a cheque cost?

For all transactions a nominal transaction fee of £2.50 and a percentage of the cheque are taken.

For cheques under £2000 the percentage is 6.5%, for cheques over £2000 the percentage is 6.0%
